Burnbrae Farms is proud to support The Children’s Breakfast Clubs , (CBC) a non-profit charitable organization serving breakfast to more than 25 school communities in Southern Ontario.  The first Children’s Breakfast Club was established in 1984 in the Jane/Falstaff area of the Greater Toronto Area.  Following a community hall meeting with residents of the area and the Metropolitan Toronto Housing Authority, it was determined that CBC would begin operations and serve community programs ensuring a nutritious start to the day for children, a safe place for parents to leave their children on their way to work and a warm and caring environment where children feel safe and supported.

Burnbrae Farms teamed up with CBC once again for their annual Egg Creations Cooking & Eating Competition on Wednesday, December 14 th 2016.  As a supporting partner, Burnbrae Farms contributed an in kind donation of our Naturegg Nestlaid Shell Eggs for all 25 competing corporate teams’ egg dishes.  Teams were encouraged to develop delicious dishes with eggs as the main hero ingredient.  Each team was given one hour to execute their dish, and present to the panel of celebrity judges. With one of those celebrity judges being our very own President of Burnbrae Farms, Margaret Hudson!  We are thrilled to share that this year’s CBC event met their fundraising goal of $120,000.  These funds will directly support daily breakfasts for more than 4,000 children.

This event is always sure to be a fun morning of Holiday cheer, laughter and team building all while supporting an outstanding organization.  This year, to our surprise and delight, the Burnbrae Farms team took home the title of “Children’s Breakfast Club Champions” with our adorable egg art creatures and delicious gourmet crêpes with fresh berries and maple syrup.

Our winning crêpes recipe was prepared and provided by our Research & Development Manager here at Burnbrae Farms. Having lived abroad in Lyon, France for several years, this traditional French recipe is a staple (and expected) at her house.

Congrats to all the eggcellent entries from this year’s field of competitors. Our planning for next year’s entry is already in the works, we’ll see you there!
