Critter Craft

None

With summer vacation at our doorstep, there’s no better time to plan some fun activities with the kids. If crafts are a part of your plan, we’ve got the perfect idea for you: The Critter Craft! Watch an egg carton transform into a ladybug or bumblebee before your eyes while your kids have a blast. And if you’re feeling creative, there’s always room for parents at the craft table, too.

Here’s what you’ll need:

-Red, yellow and black paint

-Googly eyes

-Black pipe cleaners

-Black paper

-An egg carton

-A glue gun

-Scissors

Step One:

Cut three cups out of the egg carton, and trim the rims of the cups so they’re flat

Step Two:

For ladybugs: Paint the three cups red, and then let them dry. Once the paint is dry stroke a black line down the middle of the cup and paint dots on both sides of the line

For bumblebees: Paint the three cups yellow, and let them dry. Once the paint is dry, paint black stripes across the cup to create the bumblebee’s stripes.

Step Three:

Cut three round edged triangles out of the black paper to create the heads. Then, cut two pipe cleaners into six pieces and twirl the tops of the pipe cleaners to create the antenna

Step Four:

Now everything gets glued together! Attach the antennas to the bodies first, then glue the heads on overtop. Following that, glue the googly eyes on the heads. Then, ENJOY!
