For generations, the Hudson family and Burnbrae Farms team has proudly worked alongside hundreds of Canadian egg farmers. Together we provide a variety of healthy and nutritious eggs, so Canadians can choose the eggs right for themselves and their families.

Many families depend on eggs as a convenient, healthy and affordable source of protein and nutrients. We believe families of all incomes should have access to nutritious, affordable food .

Egg farmers, foodservice operators and retailers alike are committed to matching egg supply to consumer demand. If the type of eggs that consumers can purchase are limited, or are more costly, Canadian families are denied the right to choose important, affordable high quality protein sources that fit their nutritional needs and lifestyles. This is why Burnbrae continues to supply eggs from housing types like enriched , which balances hen care that results in healthy, affordable eggs.

For their safety and comfort, hens in enriched housing are in larger cages with smaller social groups when compared to free run or free range hens, where they can demonstrate instinctive behaviours like perching and scratching and laying their eggs in a curtained nesting area..

We stand behind our commitment to provide eggs from hens in all housing types endorsed by the Canadian Code of Practice , including enriched. The Canadian Code of Practice was developed by the National Farm Animal Care Council, a diverse group including egg farmers, animal scientists and well-being experts. We also support the farm families who have invested in approved layer-hen housing and work daily to uphold high standards of care.

Along with all Canadian egg farmers, Burnbrae is committed to moving hens out of conventional cage housing before 2036 and into enriched and cage-free (free run or free range) housing. Burnbrae Farms and the hundreds of farmers we work with are on pace to achieve this timeline.
