Preserving Tomorrow by Conserving Today

None

We recognize the importance of the environment here at Burnbrae Farms and are committed to reducing our environmental footprint. Like most Canadian family farms, we have wide open spaces and barn walls which are perfect settings for solar panels and solar walls.

Solar panels will power an average sized home

Our Solar Panels are 80ft long and 16ft wide. We use PV (Photovolatic) Solar Panels to help take light from the sun and convert it into electrical energy. They produce enough energy to power an average sized home.

Solar Walls Help Heat the Barn in the winter

We installed the solar wall on the side of the barn to create a comfortable environment for the young pullets in winter. Here is how it works: the black tin absorbs the sunlight and the small holes allow for cool air to flow through the wall. The air is warmed by the heat of the sun and transferred into the barn by the ventilation system.

Watch Andrew, a member of Team Burnbrae, as he explains how we leverage the energy from the sun.  We are proud of our young agricultural ambassadors from Team Burnbrae who share their farming messages and experiences with you through video: www.youtube.com/burnbraefarms .

Preserving Tomorrow by Conserving Today:

We have a number of initiatives underway that we are very proud of as a company. We have raised awareness for the environment through the development of a logo and Mission Statement to support our environmental programs. All these efforts help to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and reduce our carbon footprint.
