Why US Eggs?

General

On rare occasions when our egg supply is insufficient to meet customer demand (for example, at Easter, Thanksgiving, or Christmas), we import eggs from the United States to ensure our customers and consumers continue to have access to fresh, high-quality eggs.

Similar to the dairy and poultry industries, we are required to import a certain percentage of eggs sold on the Canadian market to comply with current and past international trade agreements. It is also important to note that we only purchase our eggs from U.S. farms or grading facilities that meet CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) standards for egg exports to Canada. This is clearly indicated on the packaging when eggs are imported from the United States.
