Holiday Spiced Eggnog French Toast

French Toast:

brioche or challah

eggnog

vanilla extract

butter
Toppings:
Mixed Berry Compote:
1 cup
mixed berries
2 tbsp
sugar or honey
1 tbsp
lemon juice
1-2 tbsp
water
Cardamom Whipped Cream:
1 cup
heavy cream
2 tbsp
powdered sugar
1/2 tsp
ground cardamom
1/2 tsp
vanilla extract
Candied Pecans:
1/2 cup
pecans
2 tbsp
butter
2 tbsp
brown sugar
Pinch of salt
Pinch of cinnamon (optional)

Directions

  1. French Toast:

  2. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, egg whites, eggnog, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

  3. Dip each slice of bread into the mixture, soaking for 20–30 seconds per side.

  4. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook bread slices for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.

  5. Topping Variations:

  6. Mixed Berry Compote:

  7. Simmer berries, sugar (or honey), lemon juice, and water for 8–10 minutes until thickened.

  8. Spoon over warm French toast.

  9. Cardamom Whipped Cream:

  10. Beat cream, powdered sugar, cardamom, and vanilla until soft peaks form.

  11. Add a generous dollop on top of French toast.

  12. Candied Pecans:

  13. Melt butter in a pan, stir in brown sugar until dissolved.

  14. Add pecans and cook for 2–3 minutes.

  15. Cool on parchment paper. Sprinkle over French toast and serve with maple syrup or whipped cream.
