Holiday Spiced Eggnog French Toast

- French Toast:
- 4 slices
- brioche or challah

- 1 cup
- eggnog
- 1 tsp
- vanilla extract
- 1 tsp
- ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp
- ground nutmeg
- 2 tbsp
- butter
- Toppings:
- Mixed Berry Compote:
- 1 cup
- mixed berries
- 2 tbsp
- sugar or honey
- 1 tbsp
- lemon juice
- 1-2 tbsp
- water
- Cardamom Whipped Cream:
- 1 cup
- heavy cream
- 2 tbsp
- powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp
- ground cardamom
- 1/2 tsp
- vanilla extract
- Candied Pecans:
- 1/2 cup
- pecans
- 2 tbsp
- butter
- 2 tbsp
- brown sugar
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of cinnamon (optional)
Directions
French Toast:
In a bowl, whisk together eggs, egg whites, eggnog, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Dip each slice of bread into the mixture, soaking for 20–30 seconds per side.
Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook bread slices for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
Topping Variations:
Mixed Berry Compote:
Simmer berries, sugar (or honey), lemon juice, and water for 8–10 minutes until thickened.
Spoon over warm French toast.
Cardamom Whipped Cream:
Beat cream, powdered sugar, cardamom, and vanilla until soft peaks form.
Add a generous dollop on top of French toast.
Candied Pecans:
Melt butter in a pan, stir in brown sugar until dissolved.
Add pecans and cook for 2–3 minutes.
Cool on parchment paper. Sprinkle over French toast and serve with maple syrup or whipped cream.
