Chocolate Almond Energy Balls

These no-bake energy balls are perfect before or after a workout, or anytime you need a boost. Recipe by Alex L’Abbée (@alexlabbee).

  • Makes: 10 energy balls

Ingredients

1/3 cup / 80 ml
Naturegg Simply Egg Whites, well shaken
3/4 cup / 190 ml
maple syrup
2 cup / 500 g
powdered rolled oats
1/2 cup / 125 ml
almond butter
1/2 cup / 125 ml
dark chocolate chips
1 tsp / 5 ml
vanilla extract

Directions

  1. In a blender, grind the rolled oats into powder.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats, maple syrup, almond butter, vanilla extract and egg whites.

  3. Add the chocolate chips and stir to combine.

  4. Roll the mixture into golf-ball-sized balls.

  5. Refrigerate for 20 minutes before serving.

Tips

  1. For different flavour combinations replace almond butter with peanut butter or switch chocolate chips to chopped dried fruit.

Tips: Whipping

If you over beat egg whites and they're too stiff, gently stir in 1 or 2 unbeaten whites to every 5 or 6 whites or add a few teaspoons of sugar and beat again briefly until they are smooth.
