1/2 cup / 125 ml vanilla almond beverage
1/2 cup / 125 ml plain, nonfat Greek yogurt
2 cup / 500 ml baby spinach or kale
1 1/2 cup / 375 ml frozen blueberries
1 very ripe banana, cut into chunks

2 tsp / 10 ml flaxseed oil
1 tsp / 5 ml honey (optional to taste)

Directions

  1. Place the egg whites, vanilla almond beverage, yogurt, spinach, blueberries, banana, ice and flax oil into a blender. Blend, stopping to stir as needed, for 2 minutes or until smooth and well combined. Serve immediately.

Tips

  1. Add a flavor and health boost by adding 1/2 tsp (2 mL) ground cinnamon, which has been shown to have antibacterial and immune boosting properties.

  2. Substitute agave syrup for the honey.

  3. Substitute vanilla rice or soy beverage or even regular milk for the almond beverage.
