  • Cook time: 15 min

Nutritional Information

Ingredients

1 cup / 130 g
brown rice flour
1/2 cup / 125 g
Naturegg Simply Egg Whites, well shaken
1/2 cup / 125 ml
natural peanut butter (*see tip)
1/2 cup / 50 g
quick oats
Glaze:
1/4 cup / 60 ml
brown rice flour
3 tbsp / 45 ml
water (approx.)
2 tbsp / 10 ml
liquid honey

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).

  2. Blend rice flour with egg whites, peanut butter and oats to make a thick dough.

  3. Pat or roll dough out about 1/2-inch (1 cm) thick. Use a small bone shape cutter to cut into shapes, rerolling scraps as needed. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely.

  4. Glaze: Whisk rice flour with 2 tbsp (30 ml) water and the honey; whisk in additional water, 1 tsp (5 ml) at a time as needed to create a glaze-like consistency. Drizzle the glaze over the “bones” and let stand until set.

Tips

  1. *Using natural peanut butter with no added sugar or salt is essential as these are things that your puppy doesn’t need. Also, it is important to ensure that there are no artificial sweeteners such as Xylitol because it is toxic to dogs.

  2. A 2 1/2 inch (6 cm) x 1-1 1/4 inch (2.5 to 3 cm) cutter will yield about 30 treats.

  3. Replace the peanut butter with natural almond butter if preferred.

  4. Store pup treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
