Parkinson Canada provides services and education to people living with Parkinson’s disease, their families, and the healthcare professionals who treat them.
Burnbrae Farms and Parkinson Canada promote overall brain health for Canadians, and specifically those living with Parkinson’s. Evidence suggests that omega-3 fatty acids like those found in fish, spinach, flax and hemp seeds, and omega-3 enriched eggs, may have neuroprotective properties.
Dietitians advise that you can maintain good health when living with Parkinson’s disease by enjoying a variety of vegetables, fruits, whole grains and proteins from poultry, eggs, meat, nuts, seeds fish and beans. Additionally, exercise, drinking fluids and a healthy diet may also help alleviate some of the non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s.

Burnbrae Farms is proud to produce a variety of nutritionally enhanced eggs, including a line of omega enriched eggs. In some studies, omega-3 fats are linked to improved cognitive function. Omega-3 fats are found in salmon, trout and other fatty fish; and omega-3 enriched eggs.
A common question when it comes egg farming and nutritionally enhanced eggs is; how is the level of omega-3 elevated in these eggs? It’s quite simple, the nutritional profile of the egg depends on the specialized diet that the hen is fed. The diet of that hens that lay omega enriched can include flax seed or fish oil, which naturally elevates the omega-3 levels in the eggs.

The Buzz About Bee Lawns
The struggling bee populations have gained a lot of attention in the news the last few years. You may have come across some of these articles and thought “That’s not happening, I see lots of bees flying around in the summertime”, but the reality is, wild bees in Canada are at a high risk of suffering devastating population declines. It has been estimated that about a quarter to a third of wild bee species in Canada are at risk of extinction due to climate change, insecticide use and habitat loss. This issue is not just isolated to Canada, bee populations are declining world-wide.
